Innovation Fund

New ideas. Stronger systems. Better Data.

Building enough affordable homes requires more than project financing. It takes new ideas, stronger systems, better data, and more people equipped to participate in housing development. The Front Porch Investments Innovation Fund supports bold, high-impact ideas that strengthen the housing ecosystem and help the Omaha–Council Bluffs region create more affordable homes, faster and more equitably.

  • More Homes by Design is a study of barriers to building the homes Omaha needs, and a toolkit of policies that can help unlock more housing across the metro. Based on data analysis, interviews with Omaha housing developers, and examples of policy innovation across the country, More Homes by Design is a roadmap to moving housing from scarcity to abundance across the metro.

Research and Market Insights

We support research that generates new knowledge about the challenges and opportunities shaping housing development in our region. Strong proposals help identify barriers, uncover solutions, and inform better decision-making through data, lived experience, and community voice.

Capacity Building for the Housing Ecosystem

We invest in the people, organizations, and shared resources that make housing development more accessible and effective. This category focuses on expanding who can participate in housing development and strengthening the systems that help projects move forward.

Innovation in Design, Construction, & Housing Models

We support new approaches that can reduce costs, shorten timelines, expand housing options, or improve housing delivery. Projects should have the potential to create lessons, tools, or models that others can learn from and replicate.
